Jeremey Lavoi and Abby Berendt Lavoi are a New Media couple whose work history each spans a decade. They met while working together at Current TV, and then started their own production company, TeamJaded Productions in 2007.
Jeremey began his media career in advertising and graphic design in his home state of Louisiana where he worked for O’Carroll’s Advertising and Lagniappe magazine. He also produced an independent ‘zine called Jaded.
In 2002 he relocated to San Francisco and soon started an internship at Tech TV on the late night talk show Unscrewed with Martin Sargent. After Tech TV, he worked on the production staff of KMTP-SF.
In 2005 Jeremey joined Current TV and helped launch the network. During his time at Current he worked in various roles as a Field Producer, Segment Producer, Writer, Correspondent, Shooter, and Video Editor. He covered the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, including coverage of the animal rescue effort, and also the impact of the storm on local skateboarders. He also produced a daily news show about Action Sports, which included hosted news segments and documentary style content. At Current TV he learned how to maximize a small team, and small budget to turn quality content around quickly.
In 2008 he joined the originals team at Seesmic Inc, a Social Media company. At Seesmic he was the “jack-of-all-trades production guy” who worked as Supervising Producer, Technical Director, Director of Photography, and head of Post-Production. He oversaw several ongoing web series’, coordinated production units, worked with staff producers in the field, and edited ongoing shows. He also produced coverage of TechCrunch 50. At Seesmic he learned how to synergize a brand’s user community with its content creation.
As an Independent Producer Jeremey has worked on a variety of projects from documentaries, to producing book trailers, conference coverage, and even Action Sports material for ESPN.com. He has edited web shows and political ads. He also offers video production consulting to New Media companies.
Jeremey has a Bachelor’s Degree in English/Creative Writing from San Francisco State University and he prides himself on his ability to tell compelling stores.
Abby began her media career at KCSU FM, in Fort Collins, CO, working as a Prime Time DJ and Music Director. From 2001–2004, she worked with indie and major record labels, wrote CD and concert reviews for local publications, and interviewed numerous artists including B.B. King, John Mayer, Ben Kweller, and The Dandy Warhols.
In 2004, Abby moved to New York City and received starting gigs at MTV2 and Sony Records. After a quick stint working on the 2004 MTV VMAs, Abby accepted a job in the promo department at TV Land and Nick@Nite. She started by producing the network billboards, and quickly moved her way up to write and produce her own promo campaigns.
In 2006, Abby moved across the country to San Francisco. From classic TV to Current TV, Abby rediscovered her passion for pop-culture, music, and non-fiction story telling. At Current TV she wrote, produced, and edited various promo campaigns, headed up the Yahoo! Current Network promo department, worked in conjunction with the LA studio, and coordinated promo acquisitions.
In 2008, Abby moved into the Publishing world, becoming a Marketing Associate at HarperCollins Publishers managing the online and video presence at HarperOne. She has worked with several bestselling authors, including Deepak Chopra, Paulo Coelho, and Desmond Tutu, among others. She produces and edits book trailers, coordinates marketing campaigns and online outreach efforts.
Abby has a Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Journalism and Communication from Colorado State University. Her work has been nationally recognized, receiving honors from the Telly Awards, Broadcast Education Association, Colorado State Alumni Association, and Promax. Her fundamental passion is to tell creative, informative, and socially relevant stories.
